Politics

The Cayman Islands' political system is very stable and is supported by a structure of constitutional governance and sustained economic prosperity. The country relative isolation from foreign policy concerns by virtue of being an Overseas British Territory. A Governor presides over the five-member Cabinet and is an appointed representative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Premier is the highest elected official and general elections take place every four years.

People

Our country is home to over 113 nationalities at last count so there is an eclectic mix of ethnicities, customs and culture from around the globe. Of the total labour force, approximately 50& are native Caymanians and other residents hail from the US, Canada, the UK, Honduras and neighbouring Jamaica and Cuba. English is the official but it is spoken with a unique lilt, a reminder of the islands' earliest Welsh, Scottish, and English settlers.
