"We have to level up and create opportunity, inclusion
and growth for all, especially Caymanians." - Roger Southam, CaribbeanMGT
Roger moved to the Cayman Islands from London in 2018 to take over the running of a property management company on Grand Cayman. In 2019 with support of Paul Blount from Living.ky as Caymanian business partner, CaribbeanMGT was founded. CaribbeanMGT is a holding company for a range of offers from tech products to real estate to high performance coaching. Roger is a serial entrepreneur and the Cayman Islands offers him the opportunity to give something to the Caymanians and also act as a base for overseas real estate consultancy.
Roger has been in real estate for over 40 years and is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RCIS). During Covid with travel restrictions and with remote working from home, living in Cayman provided the opportunity his UK business to flourish. Mr. Southam's experience in real estate encompasses brokering, investing, developing and managing commercial and residential property. He is using his skillsets to create a new brand of real estate agencies in Cayman. Based on a UK model where all the real estate agents work together for the benefit of their clients. Being regulated by the RICS means MyRealtor.ky has to comply with the ethics and regulations of the Worldwide governing body. MyRealtor agents always strive to offer the best deal and terms.
Mr. Southam is committed to delivering jobs and opportunity for Caymanians. He is doing this by employing Caymanian real estate agents on salary and commission. Giving them training to become a member of the RICS and have a Worldwide recognised qualification that will let them have opportunities anywhere they want to go. He has launched League of Angels Cayman to give opportunities to connect Caymanian entrepreneurs with angel investors locally and from overseas, as well as exposing overseas investment opportunities to local angels.
The Cayman Islands are a special place and from the first visit it is easy to fall in love. Being an expat, Roger is well aware that he is a visitor on the shores and that it behooves all to give back to the Cayman Islands and to leave the country in a better and stronger place for the local Caymanians.
"There is no longevity in creating a divided community. We have to level up and create opportunity, inclusion and growth for all, especially Caymanians."
